“Whoever sings prays twice”

—St. Augustine

Music allows our spirits to soar beyond words alone, and to express feelings of jubilation, yearning, praise or wonder. All are invited to be part of the enjoyable group experience of each of our three choirs that enliven and inspire our worship at St. Peter’s.

Adult Choir

Adults, college and high school students make up this band of dedicated music ministers, singing almost every Sunday from September through June. We often capture video of our anthems and special event music, available on the St. Peter’s YouTube channel.

The power of hymns, on occasion, is amplified by beautiful descants, and the musical support of the choir leads heart and mind toward God. Music is selected from the rich repertoire of the Anglican tradition. The choir forms a fellowship of mutual support, musical instruction, and times of fellowship. All are welcome to join. No prior choir experience necessary. Rehearsals are held on Sunday morning beginning at 9:30 am.

Children’s Choir

This enthusiastic group of youth meets weekly to learn and practice the craft of singing, using the Royal School of Church Music’s “Voice for Life” choristers training program. Research shows the many ways music can strengthen and broaden a child’s education. More than an extracurricular activity, music is a crucial part of a child’s learning and development. Children may enter the choir at any time during the school year. The Youth Choir sings at select Sunday 10 am services, especially our monthly Family Church. Rehearsals are after the main service from 11:15 am – 12:30 pm.

Bell Choir

The Bell Choir ministers at least once a month, enhancing and supporting choral and congregational singing. Currently a two-octave group, we hope to expand to a three-octave group. Rehearsals are on Mondays from 7:45 – 8:45 pm in the church Nave.
