Saint Peter’s Outreach

Jesus challenges his followers to reach beyond their own circle to help and support others. St. Peter’s helps others in a variety of ministries that welcome participants, as well as through annual gifts from the David St. George Outreach Fund.


The OpShop Volunteers staff this not-for-profit thrift shop founded in 1943 to provide gently-used quality clothing for those in need. Today, not only does The Op Shop offer clothing, but art, small furniture, home goods and vintage collectibles are available. Proceeds from sales support community outreach programs as well as a significant donation to the St. Peter’s Church budget and Rector’s Discretionary Fund. Stephanie Kent
David St. George Outreach Endowment Fund A board of parishioners elects various local and diocesan charities to receive grants. Erika Grothues
Angel Tree During Advent each year, parishioners take gift wish cards from a tree set up in the church entrance and purchase gifts for children, then bring them to church to be given to Kid’s Connection, for children in foster care or group housing. Christine DiGiovanni
Caldwell Food Pantry Bring dry and canned foodstuffs to weekly Sunday church to be brought forward at the time of the Offertory, then go to the food pantry. Bunny Jenkins
Christine’s Kitchen Parishioners help staff this soup kitchen at Holy Trinity, West Orange, and serve meals for the homeless at stated times during the year. Jennifer Vonderahe
Cross Roads Camp Scholarships Funds are raised by Episcopal Church Women (ECW) through food and bake sales for scholarships for children and teens to attend Crossroads, the joint Episcopal-Lutheran Retreat and Camp Center in Califon, NJ. Sue Mazur
Easter Baskets Prepared just before Easter and delivered to YCS Therapeutic Learning Center, New Jersey’s only mental health preschool program. Christine DiGiovanni
North Porch Parishioners donate and deliver emergency supplies for needy mothers and infants to a well-established Diocesan ministry. Sue Mazur
St. Paul’s Shelter Serve meals periodically for people in the homeless shelter at St. Paul’s, Paterson. Liz & Jim Irwin
